When you are naturally happy without the influence of someone or something, you feel real freedom in your actions. Happiness is our true nature and basic need. If happiness is such a basic need, why can't we catch it in some way?
The simplest reason for this is that we believe that when we can fix the environment or situation outside us according to our needs or desires, everything in life will be fine, and we call feeling that life is good as happiness. The problem is that we want everything to happen according to our desires and needs. When everything around us is perfect, we feel happy; when everything is not perfect, we feel something other than happiness. So, it's very clear that our happiness is dependent on the situations and conditions around us. We just try to change the situations around us according to our desires and needs, and we call this process the purpose of life, which is to be happy.
If the situation we are in at the moment is good for us, we feel happy, but immediately after, if the situation changes, we are devastated. From this, we can clearly see that external situations in our life control our feeling of happiness. And we try to control these external situations to be happy. We are always in a state of struggle, aren't we? You can say that this is the nature of being happy, that the situations around you need to be perfect. Yes, unfortunately, we have this understanding and act accordingly. This is the biggest mistake humanity has made.
The external situations in your life are constantly changing. Because you got the job of your dreams or got a raise, you feelYou can feel very happy, but immediately after receiving a call, you learn that one of your family members has had an accident. At that point, would you feel happy about getting the job? Or would you feel sad, worried, and tense for your family? Yes, life is always changing, and each time, you have very little control over making sure everything goes as you want. If you accept that this is normal, you will not encounter any problems in life. You will see happiness and sadness as two different parts of life. But the problem here is that you always want to be happy and never accept sadness as a normal part of life. We can make a simple calculation from here:
You always want to be happy.
To be happy, the situations around you need to be perfect all the time.
To keep the situations around you perfect all the time, they should not fluctuate.
To stop these fluctuations, you need to keep these situations under your control 100% of the time.In this case, even if you were Superman, it would be impossible for you to keep everything perfect by controlling external situations all the time. It is impossible for you to be happy without fixing this external situation. We are completely dependent on external situations to feel happiness inside, and when these situations change, we fluctuate. Thus, our internal situation becomes a slave to external conditions. So, where is the control we have? When we lose control over our internal feelings, which are completely ours, we also lose control over what we feel in life.Everything starts to be determined by the outside environment; we thank someone or God for our happiness, and we blame someone or God for our sorrow. Everything outside of us becomes more important than ourselves, and this is a perfect example of slavery. However, we all love to be happy and constantly fight to control external circumstances, to change them according to our desires and needs. This is the biggest problem in our lives.
A very large part of people's actions from the past to the present has been done to successfully change the outside world. Science and technology have done a lot to change both our planet and people's lifestyles and habits. When people's lifestyles and habits change, our understanding of life and the value we give to life have also changed.
The science and technology offered by the outside world have brought so much comfort and ease to human life that they have taken us to a point where we cannot even imagine being happy without them.
Imagine that there is no electricity, water, transportation options, internet, phones, modern medical system, and many other things in your life. Humanity has developed at an incredible pace over the past hundred years, but people are no longer happy and peaceful; they miss the life of a hundred years ago.
There are many comforts and conveniences in our outside world, but we have lost the way to remain peaceful within ourselves. Every family of two has problems. We cannot control even a single person in life, but we are trying to control the whole world. People are constantly chasing this foolish goal and reaching the same result, through internal meansTo find out if there is a way to reach, they forget to check their own inside.
You can only control external situations to a certain extent, while you can have absolute control over your inner world.
Just as there is a science and technology for our physical health, there is also a science and technology for the well-being of our locked and long-unused inner world.
If we could master both of these technologies, it would be great. This is not impossible, we just need the right understanding, desire, and effort.
Every human being has the possibility of being happy, peaceful, and joyful without being dependent on anything or anyone around them in this world. A person can be happy and joyful without needing anything, because that's actually human nature. Nothing needs to be added from the outside.
Look at a child. Naturally, they are just happy. Even if someone in the family dies, the child smiles and plays. That's human nature. External events cannot spoil a child's natural happiness or create a reason for sorrow.
As the child grows up, they start interacting with the external environment to an increasing extent and become more dependent on external influences; thus, they move away from their true nature and start suffering in life. It's essential to learn how to interact with the external world, but it's also very important to preserve our inner nature and strike a balance between external and internal development. The problem arises when we start moving away from our true nature and our inner reactions become dependent on external situationsWhen we become dependent, it starts.
To be unhappy, you need to change a lot of things. Many people are unhappy because they are afraid of problems arising, even though there are no problems in their lives. In fact, to be happy, you don't need to change anything; just remember your true nature.
It has been found that the biggest problem for people is to remain unchanged; because people have lost it and filled its place with countless false things.
Instead of looking for the source of our happiness outside, we can try to find an inner source for our joy, pleasure, peace, love, and happiness. For this, we just need to focus inside and discover our true self.
In fact, you don't need to be dependent on anyone or any situation; you don't need to thank anyone for your happiness or blame anyone for your sorrow. You are the source of your happiness and the one who will find it; it is your true nature. You need to believe in it and take this responsibility.
Responsibility is the ability to respond. Your inner responses to external conditions should be completely under your control. When you take this responsibility and gain this control, you will always be happy and joyful, no matter what the external situation is, and this is true freedom. If you had the choice between happiness and sorrow, which one would you choose? There is no doubt that everyone would choose happiness. For this, we just need to be willing to take this responsibility and have control over its implementation. Why are you dependent on other people or situations for your own happiness?what do you need to do? The issue is not to gain happiness from the outside world; the issue is to reflect it from the inside out. This is not something to be won; it is something to be felt from the inside.
The most beautiful moments in life are when happiness is naturally reflected from the inside out.
To do this, you need to believe, feel, and express that the source of your true happiness is within yourself. You can try to find it in the outside world, but there is no doubt that this is the wrong place to look for happiness. That's why we need the light of correct knowledge and understanding.
Happiness is an inner understanding and is like a blanket. How do you use a blanket to keep warm? It's similar to heating your home; it doesn't matter how cold or hot it is outside; you need to control the temperature inside the room you're in. It's similar to your physical system, which keeps your body temperature at the same level at all times.
Let me tell you a story…
When I was living in my village, one evening I was returning home from work. I saw an old woman searching for something under the street lamp. I asked her what she was looking for. The woman told me she had lost her needles and was trying to find them. Without asking anything else, I started helping her look for the needles. At that moment, a friend of mine passed by and asked me what I was doing. When I told him the story, he also started searching with us, but we couldn't find the needles anywhere. Meanwhile, another person passing by saw that we were looking for something and got curious and asked us the same question; what are you looking for? I gave him the same answer. Then the man asked the old woman a strange question: "Where did you"Did you lose them?" The old woman replied, "In my room."
The man asked, "Then why are you looking for them here?"
The woman replied, "Because there is no light in my room."
So, if you seek happiness in the wrong place, you will never find it. The way to find those needles is to turn inward and light the lamp of knowledge. To remove the darkness within, you need to have the right knowledge. Then, you will see that you don't need to ask for help from anyone else.
When there is light inside your room, you won't lose your needles.
