Delving into simple yoga poses

Delving into simple yoga poses makes your yoga practice more interesting.

Sometimes the asanas become complex. We do a wide range of different poses quickly in a single class and work hard to master new ones; arm balances, deep backbends, forward bends, twists, all challenges to ourselves. This is not a bad thing, but complex practices have their own space, it's essential not to lose your connection with your foundation.

In general, when we're in the most intense physical stage of yoga and working hard to add new poses to our practice and struggling to get better at the 'tough' poses, we easily skip the simple ones. We develop a habit of rushing; we think utkatas, chair pose, and even downward-facing dog are a waste of time. The showy part becomes more powerful than the feeling part. We start focusing only on physical strength, balance, or flexibility and begin to neglect the true nature of the asana.
By neglecting these and other seemingly simple poses, you're actually losing the depth you're trying to build. Striving for new or objectively more challenging poses is one way to keep your practice interesting and engaging. Your mind doesn't like to repeat the same things over and over, so, as a result, you're not truly experiencing and entering and exiting the pose because you perceive it as simple. Does this sound familiar to you?
So, let's talk about the power of simple poses now. If you give them the attention they deserve, you'll find completely new ways to practice them,If you can be friends with the simplest poses in your practice, these are the poses that make your practice interesting and empowering.
How to be friends with simple asanas?
Choose a pose to explore: Not a new or difficult one, but one you always do but haven't paid enough attention to. Maybe it's easy for you but you haven't delved deep enough, observed closely, or felt its effect on your mind or emotional level.
Feel the flow: Continue with a flow you enjoy, such as easy sun salutations or another easy series. Unlike your usual practice, savor the joy of the flow. Deepen, feel each emotion physically and mentally, move with your breath and thoughts. Feel the different depths of the pose, the thoughts and emotions that arise when you commit to being patient with yourself. Consider all this movement as meditation.
Focus and explore: What are your muscles doing? How are your bones being supported? What happens when you enter the pose differently than usual? How can you use this pose to strengthen your body? What's its impact on your daily life? How does it stimulate your mind, calm and relax you? Try to enjoy each stage.
Gain insight: Focus deeply on the muscles and joints, and match your anatomical knowledge with your body. Feel each muscle stretching, now feel them working. What's happening exactly? How can you make it more beneficial?
Acceptance: Don't worry if you encounter negative feelings. Be aware, accept, and let them pass. If a process arises, observe it too.
So what's the purpose?
All this sounds quite straightforward,But isn't this boring? You know all these poses and can do them easily, so what's the point?
The physical benefits are numerous. By working deeply in simple poses, without compromising in intense backbends, forward bends, or twists, you can safely strengthen and stretch your muscles.
When you truly work your body, rather than doing something that bothers you, you'll develop an understanding of how your body works in those poses, and you'll discover your limits.
And you'll take that knowledge with you throughout your practice, even into your daily life; you'll feel the benefits of working intensely in simple poses while sitting at your desk, standing on a moving train, or standing firmly on your feet in the midst of a crowd.
But beyond that, you'll fall in love with your practice again, and you'll increase its capacity to support your mental and emotional well-being. You'll develop a curiosity habit, even when things seem easy. You'll learn to look at the details, and you'll look at the deeper benefits or possibilities in everything you encounter. By focusing on simple poses, you'll start to realize that you don't need more or better, that all you need to do is find the power in a new way.
Deepening in asana means the level of concentration and observation you apply while you're in the pose. The more you observe, the more you'll feel, and as you start to feel more deeply, you'll let go of the unnecessary muscle efforts you've been applying without realizing it. Next, you'll move on to managing your energy levels through your breath. As you start to control your breath in a relaxing way,you will reach the level, at this level you will find the effect of the pose on your mental level, here the pose itself becomes a meditation process. And this is the real meaning of my pose. We need a discovery beyond our physical level. You don't need new asanas, all you need is the right way to practice. If you are only focusing on your physical flexibility or balancing on your hands, gymnastics is a better choice. Asana is a tool to find a new dimension inside you, and that's the purpose of practicing asanas. When you are in the right process, you will love your practice.
